This will remove any remaining rust and in addition dirt and grim that could muddle your painting.
Heat your wood stove to a temperature of 250 degrees f 121 degrees c for 20 minutes.
Use paint thinner to clean drips.
After you have removed as much rust as you can wet a rag with paint thinner and go over the entire stove surface.
Use the heat from your stove to cure the paint.
You can use vinegar as a rust converter.
Then using the blue painter s tape tape around the feet of the stove and handles.
In each normal painting of the stove about 9 mils of dry paint are applied.
Stoves are generally painted once at the factory.
Stove paint will only adhere as well as whatever is already on the stove so all rust and all coating that is peeling or blistering will need to be removed before applying the paint.
Curing occurs when you heat your stove to seal the silicone resin in the paint which is what contains heat resistant properties.
You can apply stove paint with a paint sprayer.
Cover any and all surfaces you don t want potentially sprayed with paint with your drop cloths.
